Have been seeing lots of monarchs in the yard off and on for more than 2 weeks. They seem to be either nectaring or laying eggs! I've observed 3 or 4 each time I'm out there! I have 35 chrysalises (chrysalids?) in my nusery on the side porch. There are 18 caterpillars in various stages on the milkweed I collect from my yard each day..(although I'm getting low on that!)May have to go hunting for more on the roadside! I have common, swamp, and butterfly weed in my garden...and they love it all! I released 2 butterflies this weekend, and the way I've calculated, I should be releasing some nearly every day for quite awhile! Milkweed is looking pretty bad now...it's gone throught the second growth as I cut it back earlier...but the new little growths now will not keep up with the demand, I'm afraid!
