Tagged 10 monarchs at Wenima Wildlife Area all nectaring on sunflowers. Abundant sunflowers everywhere -- and that was the only nectar source where we found monarchs. Not one on the Asclepias subverticillata, even though it was still in bloom. No males patrolling milkweed this time. Two female monarchs ovipositing on the milkweeds near the restrooms and nearby roadside.
