Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/28/2009

Number: 1

We have a hummingbird feeder attached to our breakfast nook window, which faces SE. All last week we had the best time watching multiple ruby-throated humm-birds at a time come to the feeder and fight each other off. Their playful antics were quite entertaining! One particular female guarded the feeder closely by camping out on top and chasing away any bird brave enough to come near. At one time there were 5 fluttering around it at once, and generally there were 3 or more at a time. This abundant activity spanned about 4 days. This week we are still seeing humm-birds at the feeder every day--morning, noon and evening, just not so many at a time.
