Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/21/2009

Number: 300

Once again migrating monarchs chose my grove in rural MN as a layover site. As of Aug. 21st there were several hundreds enjoying the sunshine, milkweed, flowers and water in my grove and back yard waystation. They came and went for 3 to 4 days, now there are just a few visitors and the occasional freshly emerged ones in the yard.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum 300 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “several hundred.”
