Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/01/2009

Number: 1

The two migrating ruby throated pairs appear to have moved on. The resident ruby throated pair seemed to be holding out till today.

The lone female that had been holding court these last three weeks as migratory pairs appeared to be heading south. She remained sitting on the Tomato cage this morning. The resident male has not appeared for two days now.

The feeder which had at the peak demand two weeks ago run out at about 10oz of mix every 72 hours has in the last week dropped down to less then 1oz every 48 hours. With the cool snap this morning with temperatures in the low 60's it is likely the female will move on in the next couple of days as well.
