We still have at least 5 or 6 birds in the garden & at feeders. They have been observed at flowers, too. Our 5 feeders were dry yesterday, but within 15 minutes of filling them up & putting them back up, I heard them them showing up. Just a short time ago (about 5 p.m.) my husband saw a juvenile male at our window feeder. It has been used most of the summer by a female. They have been very active for about the last 3 months with all the usual hummingbird antics. We didn't see too many during latter part of June and July. Then all of a sudden, in early August, they found us. Weather has generally been in the high 80's except Aug. 31 was quite chilly and cloudy after some rain showers on Sunday evening. I have read recently that Labor Day weekend seems to be when they reach their peak. Don't know how localized that is.
