Date: 08/31/2009

Number: 1

4 Siteings today. Ruby throats today but two possible young rufous. We usually also have Rufous but this sdeason to date there has not been any Rufous. We have bee at this residence for 32 years. we have see humming birds most every year on their return bacj south. The years of fire in the foot hills, mountains forests - the numbers seem to increase greatly? I have been trying to get them to stop in the spring and mate here but they have not decide to do that yet. Their spring migration location is only approximately 100 mile away - but try as I do no luck to get them here in the spring. Except for one ver earyl spring Anna (male) that we caught sitting in the bush enjoying the spring sun. I quicky got some sugar warter read for him - he rushed to the feeder had a few sips and then left never to be seen again.

This year the arrival of humming birds is approximately 1.5 weesks later than ususal.
