Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/03/2009

Number: 1

There have been many hummingbirds in our location--approx. 1000 feet above sea level, near Hood River--since March. There were up to 20 per day for a time, and then the hummingbirds disappeared totally for a few weeks during our hottest weather. At the peak, I had four feeders going and needed to fill them anew each day. During the last week, the hummingbirds have gradually been leaving. As of today, September 3, I would estimate that there are no more than three or four at our yard. This is a little early for the birds to be gone, but only about a week early.
