Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/03/2009

Number: 1

Hummers came late to a lot of the gardens in thos area, mostly mid to end of July, my resident hummer showed up around July 14th feeding mostly on the flowers. She is still here, last year I had one into October. The bees have been particularly heavy, many honey bees (a good sign) mixed in with the little bumbles, very annoying to the little hummer as they have taken over the feeders. Orioles fed mostly on jelly this year, ignoring the trumpet vine, until the bees also found the jelly, last oriole seen around 8/24.
