Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/04/2009

Number: 1

Saw at least two maybe three hummers today at the feeder. One was dive bombing the other every time it went to feed. I don't think these are the regulars I have had all summer. Their coloring is different. One might be, but they all seem to be either females, or maybe a juvenile, but I think females, no red on chest. I have refilled the feeder, and they still come. it has been cool here at night, between 50's and low 60s....81 during the day.. they ate then sat in the tree above the feeder, and fed more, over and over. One did take the time to check me out by coming right up to the screen and facing me head on. I was watching them from inside the screen house, about 4 feet away from the feeder. I am sad to have them go, it was a lifetime dream of mine to have hummers come to a feeder so I could watch them and get to study them. This summer has been a wonderful revelation and so much fun learning about them. I will miss them! Thank you for your website it is a joy.
