In Western Maryland (Oakland - Deep Creek Lake) we are having a banner year. The milkweed are loaded with caterpillars and our school partners are going crazy with kids bringing in 50 caterpillars at a time !!! I have never seen them this plentiful in the six years we have been participating.

I tagged wild monarchs today on a mountain top and had good success with numbers. We generally see migration roost sites here during this week. Checked tonight and nothing so far.

It is definitely an exciting season here in Western Maryland and I am hopeful we will use all 1200 tags !!!!!!!!!!!
