Hummingbird activity has been extremely busy around here this week. They combative, noisy and very active.Their squeaks wake me up at dawn as they wait on the railing of our bedroom deck watching the feeder below. Often there are several on the clothesline swearing at each other. They seem to be really filling up as the feeder is getting drained more often. Must be pounding on the calories! My husband came in after work wiping his forehead and muttering about what startled hummers do-do! They dive bomb the dogs, who snap and jump. I always expect casualities when that happens. Today it has been quieter, but I saw the small ladybird that often follows me around like a garden angel. She waited on the tip of a crabapple branch before coming to the feeder. Her feathers sparkled with that special golden-green sheen in the morning light. She was quite patient waiting for me to finish brushing the dogs on the porch.
