Traveling between Somerset, WI and Stillwater, MN so three Monarchs migrating southward. They were near the ground, gaining what benefit they could from terrain and obstacles. Wind was from the southeast at 5-10 mph.
Also observed one at my Osceola corner pasture on the 6th and 7th of September feeding on goldenrod. The goldenrod is at or past its prime, although some younger shoots should blossom in a week or so for what I suspect will be one final hatch and migration group from this area.
