Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/07/2009

Number: 1

Four Ruby-Throated hummingbirds sighted this afternoon. One male and what looked to be three females; though if any of these were immature I could have been mistaken about gender. Spent the better part of a half-hour posturing and swooping at eachother even though I have four nectar feeders spread out across the yard to reduce competition. All were quite vocal even when not directly engaging another bird. Temp was 74F and mostly sunny. The mornings are getting to be quite cold, so I don't know how long this troupe will stay.
