Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/06/2009

Number: 60

FINALLY a roosting this evening!

It has been so cool here all summer. The milkweed matured later than usual as did the row crops! There have been only a few single monarchs floating around and stopping here and there to feed on flowers. Tonight they were gathering, approximately 50-60, in a walnut tree just as the sun was setting. It was sunny and 74*F here today.
