We have had several females eating at our flowers and feeders, I would be working in my garden and I would hear the hum of their wings before I could spot them and then I would look up and there she was, inches from my face just hovering and looking at me then circling my head and as fast as she arrived she would be gone. I never saw a male that I know of.
