We have traveled to Lake Michigan - St Joe River area - going Salmon fishing. Gone out into the Lake 5-7 miles, 110' water depth. OK, I know no one is interested in those stats - HOWEVER - while out that far, we have seen MANY, MANY Monarchs - all heading WEST over the water!! We see singles and as many as 3-4 in a loose "group"!
Yesterday, Saturday, September 4th, we were out in the a.m. as well as later in the evening from 6-8p.m. The Monarchs that we saw that late in the evening, WHAT DO THEY ROOST ON???? I have seen 1-2 Monarchs on the water - flat out and then they will make a "kiss" sound as they rise into the air!!!
