Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/07/2009

Number: 1

I have had two hummingbirds consistently visiting my feeders all summer. They are usually males. One is extremely territorial and will chase away others...including small birds like finches and sparrows! I have enjoyed watching them because I can actually watch the dominant hummer fly across the yard and perch on a branch until another hummer tries to feed. Then it zooms across the yard back to protect its territory. I have also been blessed to be "scoped" out by this "big, bad bird" as I sat at my swing; and I even heard its chirping and humming wings. Lovely!
