Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/08/2009

Number: 8

September 8
We saw one small roost of 8 Monarchs with a few more scattered and not roosting with the others. They came in the afternoon and spent time feeding in the flower beds before forming the roost.

August 19
I haven't seen anything that looked like migration. We have quite a few that I'm confident have hatched here as I saw caterpillars in the milkweed all summer long and surely some of them have hatched. Also seeing a quite a few in the flower garden that we plant just for the Monarchs. The way it has been so cool all summer I'm expecting an early fall so I'll start watching closer now.
