Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/07/2009

Number: 50

I was out in the back yard looking at the flower garden with the great granddaughter(4 years) of the lady I care for, when we saw a small roost of Monarch's flying around. After she left, I went outside a couple of hours later and took pictures of them. It was around 6:45pm, when I noticed about 40/50 of the monarchs roosting in a tree for the night. I was so excited and started snapping pictures. Today, 9/10 They were still here and did not wake up til 9am so I started watching them and noticed one by one, they were waking up and going to another tree sit on a branch and open their wings and let the sun warm them up. I got some really good pictures. I am now, addicted to the monarchs. My hummingbirds seem to have gone now but soon the monarchs will be leaving as well.
