Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/11/2009

Number: 1

Upper level low west of San Antonio and another surface low near Brownsville has brought some rain to Texas and a good fallout of Ruby-throated hummingbirds here along the mid-coast of Texas again. After only ten or so when the front blew thru this weekend, we are enjoying forty to fifty plus in the backyard again today. Altus has had to refill some of the feeders twice in one day, got up early this morning to check them again. We had ten perched nicely at one feeder about ten this morning and I couldn't get the camera focused! Lots of six, seven, and eight at a feeder. They are loving the Turk's caps, one plant full of blooms at seven feet, and scarlet salvia. This will taper off in a week or two.
