Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/10/2009

Number: 100

September 12

There were still a few around today, but not very many. Maybe 30 or so. Yesterday it was raining so that's probably why I had more.

September 10 & 11

I've never seen migrating Monarchs before and they are right in my yard! The butterflies were roosting in the trees in my yard about dusk on September 10th. I think there were even more on the night of September 11th. They were in several trees in my yard. There were probably 10-15 on one branch alone, so there may have been 100+. I'm not sure. (How do you estimate their number?) It was exciting to be among them! How long should I expect to see them?
