Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/10/2009

Number: 1

We released three monarchs at 3 pm, two males and a female that emerged yesterday. Early this morning, they appeared to be roosting in the flight cage. When we released the first male, he flew due south on a very determined path. The other two also flew south, but stopped to nectar in the lantanas and flew around the trees.

We have at least three more to free tommorrow, quite possibly a handful more depending on what time they emerge. Their chrysalides are beginning to change. There are quite a few more pupae. I will be tagging them as soon as the tags I ordered arrive.
