Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/10/2009

Number: 1

I have just joined Journey North. In Dec I'll be 84 and I really enjoy watching the hummers at my feeders. I would like more info on the Journey South when they leave as I still have one or two now ,the 10th of Sept., 2009. As I was changing one of the feeders today a baby hummer actually buzzed around me and finally lit for a second on the replacement feeder that I was holding .I think that he would have stayed longer if it had been the feeder that I was taking down as the new sugar water was just out of the fridge. Anyhow , it was exciting for him to come so close and almost stay and drink. I say "him " as it was a baby just beginning to get his red throat. I can't imagine how the babies can possibly gain enough weight to make it across the Gulf or where ever they are going.
I appreciate all that you folks are doing and hope that I'll live to see another summer visit from these beautiful little creatures.
