Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/17/2009

Number: 1

Last night and this morning, we have had an exceptional number of Ruby Throat hummers. Probably 50-60. No mature males. We have extra feeders out for them: 30 ports. Phlox has faded, so hummers only have cypress vines, roses, daylilies, and a few annuals. Large windows face south, and I see hummers take off across field, headed south, usually in pairs. (Mama & baby?) At midmorning, many seem to be eating/resting for the day. I can also see many resting in the trees.
