I've been seeing Monarchs for a couple weeks, but only a few here and there. Sunday, 9/13/09, we drove about 20 miles east to Clay Center, Nebraska, and as we were driving there were many Monarchs flying south across the highway in front of us. Yesterday, 9/17/09, I was in the backyard sitting in my hot tub about 1:00 p.m. and in the approximately 1/2 hour I sat there, I saw at least one or two a minute flying in what appeared to be almost the same fly route from west to east across my back yard. There are large trees in my backyard and I had a roost two summers ago, but these appeared to land on some leaves and then fly on. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and _30__ minutes.
