Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/14/2009

Number: 1

Since our first wave of migrating monarchs during the last week of August, the nights have been too warm to stimulate another movement southwards. Finally, Sunday morning the 13th was a cool 9 degrees centigrade. This resulted in a movement of monarchs through Point Pelee National Park on Monday and Tuesday, 14th and 15th. Along a one kilometre stretch of our west beach where we may normally observe 5 or 6 butterflies, we were seeing 40 monarchs at any one time. So we know that thousands of butterflies moved through the park during these two days. My observation time: I was watching for 0.5 hours each of the two days. My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
