Yes, its the aggressive type of feeding and territory guarding before they leave for the season. "Mr Green" hovers about 3 feet from my face each morning during coffee My hummers are becoming more social during the growing season, until the seasons peak or begin to change and nature drives that migration instinct. I live in texas 76123, and I still have about 4 hanging out. My ruby throated left labor day. And I already miss him, but await his return next season. I am starting to get nests in the trees around my house, and it looks like an airport on some days, and they are brining their youngsters, or smaller ones are following the migration path. Next season we are going to begin hand feeding since they like to see what we are doing. I have had them land on the edge of the pool, or sit on sheppards hooks just resting or playing in the water. What a magnificent animal these are.
