Today (9/22) and yesterday (9/21) I saw three hummingbirds in our backyard. One was female, the others look smaller (maybe younger?). All three battled over the feeders (we have reduced from 9 to 7 feeders since last week). Mostly active during the last hour before sunset. Between 9/16 and today has been the most activity this summer. It has been an unusual summer with many less hummingbirds than usual. They seem to be later this year (both their first arrival this spring, and activity this late in September).
