Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/23/2009

Number: 1

On the 19th our 100+ Rubies dwindled to about 20, last night and this am we had 40-50 back fighting over the feeders again.I guess one group migrates across the Gulf and then another group comes in from the North. I am just fascinated with the whole process and watching these guys for hours. Last night I stood so close to the feeders they were brushing my face with the wind from their wings. I can see different markings, shades of color, and personalities of the different birds. There are 2 that jabber constantly in a different tone than everyone else. It's absolutely amazing!!
