My school is registered for Oliver Springs, but I live in Oak Ridge, TN and am still seeing a family of about 6 hummingbirds still visiting my feeder. I noticed the most unusual sight this past weekend as it appeared one of the females that frequents one of my 3 feeders actually seemed to have a swarm of 4-6 little hummingbirds accompanying her as she defended and acquired nectar from the feeder. Although they were the size of small butterflies, they moved with the same speed and agility that adult hummingbirds seem to travel with. I could only guess they were babies as about the time I finally fumbled my binoculars out of their case, they took a reprieve. The adults were still busy yesterday (9/22/09) visiting my deck and garden feeders!
