Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/22/2009

Number: 1000

I received a call on Tuesday 09/22/09 that the Monarchs were here in Bronte at their favorite roost in the North East corner of town in an area full of huge pecan trees along the Kickapoo Creek. A cool front came in and the Monarchs came with it. Flutterings were noticed around town. "They don't seem as big nor as many as in the past", one watcher said. Estimate around 1000 with the majority of those leaving out today (Thursday). Still hundreds are in the trees for the night. I still get a thrill when I see them passing trough our town.
