This sighting is from Double Top Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway (Mile Marker 435 - Elevation 5365 - Weather Conditions - Cloudy with occasional glimpses of the sun - external temp 67 degrees - They were feeding on New England Aster - more males than female.
In a 15 minute period of time, we counted 8 Monarchs, near the edge of the overlook . . .
NOTE: The Aster grows all down the mountains and along the sides of the roadway and this is by no means a report of "all" of the Monarchs in the area.
