We spent three hours Northbound on the Blue Ridge Parkway between Sylva and Asheville, NC.(Mile Markers 442.0 and 393.0) The weather was "mostly cloudy" - outside temp around 65 degrees . . . Elevation ranged between 3630 ft at Balsam Gap Overlook near our entrance to the Parkway at Sylva NC and 2100 ft at the French Broad River Overlook near Asheville where we exited the Parkway. The highest elevation was 6053 ft at Richland Balsam Overlook, the highest point on the Blue Ridge Parkway Motorway.

There is an Overlook at Graveyard Fields - Mile Marker 418.6 - Elevation 5120 ft. where the fall color change is well underway. I was absolutely amazed to find so much color so early, especially at such a "low" elevation. I have some gorgeous pictures . . .
