Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/25/2009

Number: 1

One young Rufous hummingbird seen visiting scarlet runner bean flowers this morning, and also yesterday morning. I don't know if it was the same individual or not. The runner bean flowers seem to be the prime attraction for the migrating hummers at this point; I haven't seen a bird at any of the feeders for a while, though i keep small amounts of fresh sugar water in each one. They may also be visiting other flowers I can't see as easily or as often during the day. Agastache, nasturtiums, and zinnias are all in the yard, and have attracted plenty of hummers earlier in the season.
