I thought all the Rufous Hummingbirds had left our area when we had some cooler, rainy weather a few weeks ago. Much to my chagrin, I was out on my patio last night watching an Anna's eat from my feeder when a Rufous female came out of nowhere, chased her off, fed, and proceeded to guard the feeder for about 5 minutes before taking off.
