Signs of Fall

Date: 09/29/2009

Number: 1

On Sept. 24 or 25 I was amazed to see what I thought was a bald eagle soaring high above, circling around, riding the winds looking for food. Was too high up to tell for sure that it was a bald eagle, but did notice the white head and tail.

This morning I saw a bald eagle fly over my property and this time it was low enough to tell for sure that it was an eagle. WOW. Makes sense though because I live right on the edge of the Sandilands Prov. Forest pretty much right in between Lake Winnipeg and the Lake of the Woods district. We've lived out here for two years and this is my first sighting of an eagle (originally from Edmonton).

We've had a lot of rain out here this summer and there are a lot more ponds and marshes - as a matter of fact the elderly say this is the most rain this area has had in 80 years.
