Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/28/2009

Number: 500

Sept.29/2009
The last few days my wife and my self have observed a few monarchs at our house.Yesterday afternoon they started to come in droves. Late afternoon we sat on our patio watching the butterflies untill dark.We have 3 oak trees in our back yard.AS it started to become dusk the monarks begin to land on the trees. I did not think to try and estimate the number of them.
They stayed in clusters all over the trees all night. At about 8 oclock this morning they started to begin flying again. It is now 10:00 and only a few are still around.

Editor's Note: This observer did not specify the number of monarchs present. We entered '500' in the number field based on observer’s “clusters all over the trees.”
