Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/29/2009

Number: 2000

September 30
There are even more monarchs today at the Rankin Cemetery roosting in the oak trees. They are so pretty and there are just thousands of them scattered amongst the trees at the cemetery and around town. I have never so many in my life! Just been so cool seeing them!

September 29
Thousands of monarchs have arrived and are roosting in the oak trees all around town. They started to arrive just after the first cold front came through last week and have really concentrated after the 2nd cold front came through on Monday, 9/28/09. They have been very welcome guests to our little town!

Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 2000 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “thousands.”
