Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/30/2009

Number: 200

I had the pleasure of observing hundreds of monarchs as they settled in for their evening roost in my mulberry trees. I walked toward the trees around 7:00 p.m., completely unaware of their presence, when the trees exploded with color! I was amazed! What beauty these little creatures added to my trees! The colorful monarchs patiently posed for many photos. I finally left them to rest for the evening. What an awesome sight! My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.
9-30-09 7:00 P.M.: I watched for 1 hour.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 200 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “hundreds.”
