Since the middle of September, we have noticed an constant increase in the number of Monarchs in our fields. We have at least an acre in Engleman Daisy flowers. Today, October 1, 2009, we were in that area about 5:00 P.M. and saw so many Monarchs that we could not count them. There were hundreds on the flowers and in the oak trees. We will check tomorrow to see if they are gone. My observation time: I was watching for __1_ hours and 20___ minutes.
Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 200 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “hundreds.”
