After a morning of rain it's turned into an almost perfect migration day. There's a 24 mph WSW wind (with gusts to almost 30) which they are flying into.
Despite the wind there is still an average of 2-3 monarchs a minute passing through the clear cut at the back of our property - some stopping to nectar. My Black Adder perennial is COVERED with monarchs. There were 4 on one flower alone! I put in a Monarch Waystation with dreams of them coming and it has actually come true.
The only thing to top this would be to have a roost in our trees tonight and/or a trip to their winter site in Mexico.
So amazing and truly a miracle!
