Signs of Fall

Date: 10/04/2009

Number: 1

Ground fog laying in the mornings last couple days, burn off is slow. Rain building in the West bringing cooler and damp air. Jays still active, saw first wave of Starlings on 10/03. My own personal signs of fall starting..lack of circulation in feet, feeling the cold in my bones! WIll stay that way now until next May..wore sweatpants for first time...lol. Soft day today outside, fall is here. Sentinel tree is now red mostly, it is a Sweetgum, softwood. Hardwoods still holding green, but dropping leaves.Poor harvest of Dogwood berries in some areas, but good here, The starlings will come through eventually and strip them, or the robins, whom I haven't seen yet in mass. Ridges of our Blue RIdge two to three miles away@ elevation 2,00oft or so now, in color, moving down the mountains. Lost sight of the moon with cloud cover, it is waning now past full. I expect frost next cycle...dew point is high. This day is made for me, and I rejoice in it.
