Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/04/2009

Number: 1

Editor's Note: Monarchs have roosted at this location in the past.
We are in contact the observer, and if/when a roost appears this fall it will be reported here.

Comments from the observer:

At present we have had unusually warm weather for this time of the year, due to recent over average rains, very humid and uncomfortable temperatures. My guess is that we have approaching northerlies systems with cool dry hair that compresses local air against mountains and have this "heated air" effect upon us. There is also some telling signs as well that Monarchs are not far from this area, the presence of small brown calico butterfly with long snout ( name ??) usually appears ahead of the Monarchs by two or three weeks lead.
