Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/05/2009

Number: 1

I had about 8-10 hummers over the weekend, but I am only seeing two females buzzing around today. The weather is rainy and cool here today. One of the hummers has a injured beak. From what I can tell it looks as if a piece got broken off from the bottom of her beak. She is a juvenile. She seems to be doing fine. About three weeks ago, I had a similar problem with another juvenile female. The bottom part of her beak was bent completely down. I managed to catch her and my husband and I did our best to help her. I do hope she made it!
