Gerd R. and I had a fresh American Lady on the "Shag End" peninsula in Shad Bay today, and also saw the first Monarch Butterfly that I've seen this autumn. There were several Painted Ladies as well, somewhat more faded than the American Lady. Also many Clouded Sulphurs, some quite white.
(Editor's Note: Since this is the first sighting of the season, prior to this date no monarchs were seen, so we are reporting to this category.)
