Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/07/2009

Number: 1

On Wednesday, October 7th, Mallory's 10th birthday, our fourth grade class planted our tulip bulbs. The tulip bulbs had a brown casing called the tunic that protected it. The temperature was around 60 degrees and the sun was shining a little. Each student had to dig seven inches down into the moist, black soil. Each bulb needed to be four inches apart from the other bulbs and not too close to other plants in the garden. We planted them near the hostas. We chose to plant them in October because of the zone rules we learned about. It was a lot of fun!
