September 30th seemed to be the last time I saw a hummingbird here in Burlington. In previous years they stayed until the 7th or 8th of October so I don't know that by leaving early, the weather will be worse than previous years. I've always timed them with the arrival of the Juncos. The hummingbirds leave October 7th and the juncos arrive October 7th. The juncos arrived on the 7th, but haven't seen a hummingbird since the end of September.
