Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/10/2009

Number: 1

We continue to have numerous sightings of hummingbirds daily. Sometimes there are two at a time and they chase each other around the back yard. Since our climate is still very warm and humid, the plants that the hummers love are still in full bloom...though they still come to the feeder also. They have iridescent green on their backs...I have not seen any with a red throat. They make a small little chirp. The last couple of years, we have had hummingbirds all year. This year too, more so than in past years, we have had numerous butterflies-yellow sulphur, (I think), 20 at a time all over the same flowers the hummingbirds like.

I plan to keep my hummingbird feeder out all year. I think some spend the winter here.
