Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/11/2009

Number: 1

Compare to our report on 10/03/09: Very strong cold front with rain came in on Friday, low's in 50's and hi's mid 60's, winds 50mph. We still had RT-hummers yesterday but the most we could count at one time would be six, we have reduced our number of feeders, still have many flowers in the yard. This is the count of the TPWD bird bander near Victoria (30 miles inland) for this past week, 99 RT banded for the first time in 4.5 hours for 22/hr, week before that was 111 first timers in 8 hours for 13.9/hr, but the weeks before were 33.1/hr, 23.7/hr, and 26.4/hr back to Sept 1st. There seems to have been a peak about Sept 14-16 down here from what we observed.
